Section I.

A Distinct Life Expectancy Pattern Corresponding to Each of the Four Eras

All patriarchs (and possibly others, men and women, living at the time as well?) born in the preflood age lived between 900 - 1000 years, with the exception of Enoch who was taken, and Lamech, whose untimely death at a mere 777 years occurred just 10 years prior to the flood (coincidence? Or, perhaps to spare him from a drowning death?)

Although Shem was born in the preflood era, as the father of the post flood generations, his death at 600 evidenced the immediate decline in life expectancy that continually shortened for the post flood generations, (*Genesis 6:3), leveling off by the 5th generation after Shem at about 200, less than 25% of the preflood lifespan. During era three; Egyptian captivity, the ages dropped to a new plateau at just over 130, culminating in Moses dying just before the end of that era at 120 years, leaving us with the maximum lifespan we have today. (era 4: from Promised Land up to today)

====================================
*"Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever [or, My spirit will not remain in], for he is mortal [or corrupt]; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."
